Procedure To Clean Up The Startup Menu In Windows Vista

Microsoft Windows XP (short for eXPerience) was probably the most used and popular operating system series ever created by the world’s largest software maker. The next edition, Windows Vista, was quite different in terms of the User Interface, security functions, and many other features. There was an overhaul.
Microsoft Windows Vista made some changes enhancing the Windows Operating System environment.
The great changes, which happened, happened to the Start menu. There is a new and more streamlined menu system instead of the usual branching menu in Windows we are familiar with. Though the structure was significantly overhauled, the function of some of the entries within the Start menu remained the same. One of these is the Startup menu, which contains many programs that are loaded or launched every time Windows starts. When the Startup menu becomes cluttered, it can slow down Vista startup; then, it should be cleaned up to remove programs that you do not require.

Instructions
  • Initially, you need to open the Vista Start menu by clicking the Windows button on the taskbar, or you can do this by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard. After that, once the Start menu opens, you need to click the All Programs option available at the bottom of the menu, to access the full program list.
  • Then, you can scroll down through the folders in the All Programs list until you see a folder called Startup. After that, click on the folder once to open it, then display the icons for all of the programs contained within.
  • After that, you need to right-click the icons for any programs in the Startup menu that you do not want to launch automatically anymore. Then a context menu will open. Then you need to select the Delete option near the bottom of the menu. After that, when the Delete Shortcut window appears, you can click on the Yes button to confirm and remove the shortcut from the Startup menu.
  • You can then repeat the process for any other programs you wish to remove from the Startup menu. Any program that you close immediately or leave running in the background, and if you never plan to use it, should be removed for speeding up the Windows Vista startup process.
  • Subsequently, you need to right-click on the Recycle Bin icon on the Desktop, and then select the Empty Recycle Bin option from the context menu, for deleting the shortcuts you removed from the Startup menu.
